Monday- Begin  "The Story of Jumping Mouse".  Discuss vocabulary.
Tuesday- Library
Wednesday- No Class due to History Program
Thursday- Begin reading story aloud and discussing.
Friday- Continue reading story and discussion.  Study skill Genre.
No Test this week.

Storytelling Festival

The Fifth and Sixth Grade students have been invited to attend the Storytelling Festival at Troy University this Friday, January 30.  We will travel to and from the University on our bus.  We will leave campus between 10:25 - 10:45 and return by 1:00.

Language - Our lessons this week are on adjectives that compare, irregular adjectives that compare, and adverbs that compare.  Also, the correct use of good and well and negative adverbs in sentences.  Rules to review - pages 104, 105, 107, 109,110, 112.

Reminder- Field Trip

We will leave school around 8:15 Friday for the movie at the Troy Continental Cinema.  We will eat lunch at Monarcas following the movie.  Remember to bring money for concessions at the movie and for lunch at Monarcas.

We have moved the Spelling Test to Thursday due to the field trip.

Both 5th grade classes will have a Language Test Wednesday.  We reviewed today.  Students need to study the rules on these pages in their Language books tonight: for adjectives - pages 85,87,88,& 89
Adverbs- pages 92, 93, 94, 95, & 100

Field Trip

We are going to see A Bear Called Paddington  at Continental Cinema in Troy on January 23, 2015.  Movie tickets will be $6.50.  Please send this money by Wednesday, January 21, 2015.  Students may bring money to buy concessions at the movie.  We will eat lunch in Troy after the movie.  Your child will also need money to cover the cost for their lunch.  Please let me know if you would like to drive.

Language/Spelling 5 A&B

Spelling - pedal, vain, promotion, laziest, evident, misfire, mission, peddle, disprove, carrying, vein, traction, mismatch, decent, branched, disposition, harvested, smallest, shrinking, dried

Test will be January 23.

Language - Adverbs pages 97- 102.  We marked important rules in our book on pages 92, 93, 94,95, and 100.  Please review these.  The unit test on adjectives and adverbs will be next Wednesday.

The SGA annual Food Drive is in progress through January 16.  The class that brings in the most items  will have a pizza party.

Honor's Program Rescheduled

The program has been changed to Monday at 9:00 in the cafetorium.

Also, students were asked to bring $10 for the deer hunt.  This needs to be in by Friday.  Students will be given a homework pass for the donation.
