State Softball Tournament

Due to the State Softball Tournament on Friday, May 1, Grades 7 - 12 will dismiss at 11:00 am.  Grades 6 and under may check out to go to the game with a note from their parents.

AR Deadline

PLEASE read your AR Books.  The deadline is May 8.  Remember, the AR pool party is May 18!

Recycling Contest

The 5th Grade won the recycling contest.  We collected over 300 pounds of plastic.  Thanks to all the parents for their help with this project.  Also, a special thanks to Mr. Robert Jacobs for his help.

Important Dates

April 20-24 - Book Fair in the library.

April 22 - Liberty Learning Celebration 9:00  cafetorium

May 8 - cut off for AR

May 8 - School performance for the Sr. Drama Class play.  Cost $2 per student.  I will start collecting that now.

May 11 - Field Trip- Huntsville

May 12 - Field Day 1:00-3:00

May 13- Elementary Honors Day Program - 9:00

May 16 - PLAS Pageant  I have already sent forms home with 5th grade girls.

May 18- AR pool party at Rec. Center

May 22 - Graduation

Spelling- Week of April 20-24 -  Homophones  -addition, edition, bazaar, bizarre, borough, burrow, cereal, serial, complement, compliment, naval, navel, profit, prophet, wrapped, rapped, fare, piece, great, rode   Know the meaning of each word.  See page 144 for definitions.
Test Friday

Language- This week begins our research writing project.  Unit 6 - (pages 88 - 109) provides examples for each step in writing a research paper.  I gave the students an information page with due dates.  3- 3x5 Bibliography Cards are due this Friday, April 24, in students folder.
Examples - see pages 88 and 89.
The purpose for this activity is for students to become familiar with the steps in writing a research paper.  (They will soon be jr. high students.)  Please don't stress.  we will work on this together.

This information was sent home last week with students.  I just wanted to post a reminder.
5:45 - Arrive at school
6:15- Depart for Birmingham
5:15 p.m.- Return to School

Students wear blue Pike Lib field trip t-shirt
Students will need lunch money($10-$12)
(They may also want money for the Gift Shop.)
A snack will also be provided on the return trip.

McWane Field Trip/ Reminders

I am sending a letter  home today with all the information for the field trip on Tuesday.  Please check with your child for this information.  We need to be at school at 5:45 on Tuesday morning.

School will be out for Good Friday on April 3.
